The Government has given the green light for dental practices to reopen but for your safety and ours, we must have fully compliant PPE, exercise social distancing measures and apply appropriate cross-infection control.
This means that we need to allow for more time in between each patient and we will only be able to see a reduced number of patients each day.
We are working to maintain an environment which is safe for both you and our staff and, as we welcome you back to St. Dunstan’s Dental Practice, be reassured that it is safe for you to do so. With this in mind, here are the new measures that are in place when you visit us.
Before your appointment
- Our reception team will contact you to make your appointment.
- They will explain everything you need to know for your visit.
- At the time of booking the appointment, if needed, we will update your medical history over the phone.
- We will also ask a few questions to assess your Covid status.
- To avoid unnecessary contact, for you and our reception team, we will ask for pre payment over the phone.
- If you will not be arriving by car or have assistance needs, please discuss with reception and we will help you to manage this.
On the Day
- Before you leave home please ensure you have used the toilet as our toilet facilities are closed. We can however make them available in cases of necessity
- Avoid bringing any belongings, bags or valuables to your appointment.
- Please arrive 10 minutes early for your appointment but remain in your car and have your mobile phone nearby
- We will call you to come into the practice when we are ready
- Please come alone. If someone is driving you, they will need to stay in the car. Escorts are permitted if you are accompanying a child or if you are a carer or guardian
Entering the Practice
- You will be greeted by one of our reception team who will open the door and take your temperature. Our team will also undergo daily temperature checks.
- There will be social distancing markers on the floor as a helpful reminder
- We will ask you to sanitise your hands with the facilities provided.
- Your nurse will be ready to escort you straight into the surgery.
Treatment Room
- You will be asked to leave your belongings in a plastic box provided
- Our teams will be wearing extra PPE. Please don’t let this put you off. It’s still the same friendly faces hiding underneath!
- We will ask you to rinse your mouth with an anti- viral mouthwash for 1 minute
- After your treatment you will be escorted to the exit
- We will call you to make any necessary follow up appointments
- Extra time is allowed, after each patient, to clean and disinfect the surgery
